The Government Shutdown

So, the government has shut its doors

I don’t know about you, but my initial reaction is simply, “who cares?”. In some ways, our government has been shutdown for a decade… What I mean to say by that is, what positive piece of legislature has passed in the past 10 years that has been made clearly and undeniably for the public good?

The government has entered into a few military disputes and wars, paid banks millions of dollars as a “punishment” for irresponsible business practices, continues to ignore the possible threat of global warming, spent billions of dollars on a campaign that led to more of the same (that’s not meant as a dig at Obama, but at our broken system in general).

Can anyone tell me something good the government has done for its citizens it claims to represent in the past 10 years?

I don’t really mean to be a cynic, but when you sit and look at the productivity of our political machine (or lack thereof) it’s hard to not be.

One response to “The Government Shutdown

  1. In my opinion, our whole government needs to be fired. Washington is a complete mess, If you were the owner of a company and your business was run the same as our government, you would put every single one of the on the street.
